IN AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL SECTOR

AFRICA
3. MAURITIUS
In the framework of the Sectoral Protocol of Co-operation in agriculture, signed in 1997, four (4) programmes have been implemented:

-  Training women-farmers in processing fruits and vegetables, as well as in creating income through non-agricultural activities;

-  training small farmers in using residues for feedstuff production;

-  providing know-how to the Ministry of Agriculture of Mauritius for founding a Home Rural Economics Department;

-  training small farmers (men and women) in pig breeding.

It is worth mentioning that in 1999, a delegation of women trained in the above programmes- participated to an international seminar and presented the follow-up of their two-year training.
